Name of Product/Service:

Estimated Time of Arrival System for vehicles; In-vehicle Seat Vacancy Detection System; Indoor positioning system

Description:

SOCIF positions itself as an IoT solution supplier in the field of smart mobility. We provide solutions ranging from Estimated Time of Arrival, Seat Vacancy Detection, Seat Reservation System with online payment to indoor positioning system by using location-based, computer vision and indoor positioning technology. We provide service packages such as hardware installation, product customization, regular system updates and end users marketing.

For business project reference, SOCIF was tendered by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to deploy an Estimated Time of Arrival System for the Green Minibus serving the Campus. By installing hardware devices in around 50 Green Minibuses, it collects the real-time transport data such as speed and location. And by using Microsoft’s backend cloud computing technology and our own algorithm, we display the computed live arrival time of the upcoming Green Minibuses in the mobile applications for HKUST community as well as a comprehensive fleet management dashboard for the Green Minibus Operator.

Throughout the project, the application successfully makes social impact not only to the campus staff and students, but also the nearby residents. During the business case, we were even referred by the collaborated Green Minibus Operators to HKSAR Transport Department for further partnership initiatives.
